Organising the birthday party of the year means think big hair, punk rock and Cyndi Lauper and Madonna! Dig those clothes out the bottom of your closet or your mother’s to turn back the time and welcome the 80s. Always good to have a theme to get everyone in the mood.

How To Decorate
-----------------

Find some posters at a thrift store. You can also find audio cassette players to go as part of the décor and throw some old cassette tapes around to complete the look. Keep everything bright and neon, use a lot of checkerboard and animal print. You can also decorate your walls with words like, “Awesome” “Totally” and “Rad”

What To Wear
-----------------

Big hair and big makeup! Bring out that teasing comb. Again, continue with the neon and animal print. Crops shirts and denim are in. Wear big jewellery and do the one sided ponytail, If you are unable to tease your hair, find a blonde wig which will suffice. Chew a piece of gum with your mouth wide open for that signature 80s look. Bring out the tights, the short shorts and the high waisted pants. Men can don eyeliner and the skinniest ties they can find as well as cut off t-shirts for a more casual look.

What To Listen To
-----------------

Turn up the volume on anything that is playing. Fortunately, you can go to YouTube to find all of the best 80s dance hits to save you the time to make a list of your own, If you want to be truly authentic, blast some “Material Girl” from the audio cassette player you have lying around. Your guests are going to love it. And don’t forget A-HA! Let’s get physical and make it a dance party!

What To Do
-----------------

Play Taboo and have conversations with each other only using 80s slang and terminology. People are automatically eliminated when they are unable to continue the conversation leaving the other to duke it out for the prize! Awesome!

What To Eat
-----------------

You can serve up all kinds of pasta salad, Doritos, and Jaw Breakers. For dinner be sure to do a “Shake N’ Bake” served up with a cold potato salad.
